There`s always something in the way, there’s always something that’s keeping us from the truth. Too often we hear people saying that they are not ready to make the commitment. The reasons some use, are that they are either too young, or too busy, they have not reached their peak in their career, it`s not their scenery, or they are worried about what their friends, family, colleagues, etc. will think or say, or they might have great possessions, etc.
There is always something in the way – something standing between you and the ultimate decision in your life. In one`s life, ignorance can drive one into the grave – ignorance can be the downfall and a person can be so ignorant that he/she won’t even realise the ignorance.
Let`s turn our mind for a few seconds to the young rich man in the bible – he asked Jesus “Good Master, what good thing shall I do that I may have eternal life?” Jesus told him what to do and he replied by saying that he had done those from his youth days – then Jesus told him: “If you want to be perfect, go, sell what you have and give to the poor, and you shall have treasure in Heaven. And come, follow Me.” The bible continues saying that he “he went away sorrowful; for he had great possessions.” My friend you can follow the story in Matthew 19.
Moral of the message that I want to bring across, is that many will always have excuses not to turn from their wicked ways to follow Jesus. In the story of the rich young man, according to him, he was already upholding the commandments; in other words, he was already living a life according the law as it was required to do. With this young man living a life that the law required him to live – he failed to let go of his worldly possessions. So many people out in the world live their life and it may enrich many in terms of the good will – good deeds – but they fail to make the important decision – to follow Jesus. There`s always something in the way.
What can be more important than to live a life for God Almighty, what is more worthy of pursuing? My friend, whatever the reason is, trust me – it’s not important enough for you not to “lay it down” and follow Jesus. I would encourage you to overlook that “something that`s in the way” and follow Jesus Christ – seek His Kingdom and all His righteousness, and all the rest will be added unto you.
