Love God

There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear. For fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not been perfected in love. We love because he first loved us. If anyone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen cannot love God whom he has not seen. And this commandment we have from him: whoever loves God must also love his brother (1 John 4:20) as He says in His Word: all the Law and the Prophets depend on two commandments;

  1. “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. Matthew 22: 37-38

Love Others

  1. And a second is in line with the first: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” Matthew 22: 39

Owe no one anything, except to love each other, for the one who loves another has fulfilled the law. For the commandments, “You shall not commit adultery, you shall not murder, you shall not steal, You shall not covet,” and any other commandment, are summed up in this word: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” Love does no wrong to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfilling of the law. Romans 13: 8

Speak kind Words

And the tongue is a fire, a world of unrighteousness. The tongue is set among our members, staining the whole body, setting on fire the entire course of life, and set on fire by hell. For every kind of beast and bird, of reptile and sea creature, can be tamed and has been tamed by mankind, but no human being can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison. With it we bless our Lord and Father, and with it we curse people who are made in the likeness of God. From the same mouth come blessing and cursing, but the heart of the wise makes his speech judicious and adds persuasiveness to his lips. James 3: 6 – 10 Gracious words are like a honeycomb, sweetness to the soul and health to the body. The thoughts of the wicked are an abomination to the Lord, but gracious words are pure. Proverbs 16: 23,24

Set an Example

In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven. Matthew 5: 16

Keep your conduct among the Gentiles honorable, so that when they speak against you as evildoers, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day of visitation. By this my Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit and so prove to be my disciples. Peter2: 11
